A quality aquabike is a long-term investment — provided it's treated well. Good news: maintaining an Hydrorider aquatic bike is quick and easy. Here's everything you need to know to preserve your equipment season after season.
Why the material makes all the difference
Even before talking about maintenance, everything comes down to the purchase. An aquabike spends its life in chlorinated or salted water, an extremely aggressive environment for most metals. This is why Hydrorider bikes are made of AISI 316L marine-grade stainless steel: the same alloy used for marine equipment constantly exposed to seawater.
Concretely, this means that with minimal maintenance, your bike will not rust and will retain its original appearance for years.
Good daily habits
Rinse after highly chlorinated water. If your pool has just been treated, a simple rinse with clear water from time to time is enough to limit deposits.
Avoid abrasive products. A soft cloth and soapy water are more than enough. Banish metallic sponges and aggressive detergents that could scratch the finishes.
Check the settings. From time to time, check that the saddle and handlebar clamps remain firmly in place, especially if several people are using the bike.
Should the aquabike be taken out of the water?
This is one of the great advantages of Hydrorider bikes: designed to remain submerged, they can stay in the pool permanently during the season of use. There's no need to handle them after each session.
However, as winter approaches or when winterizing the pool, it is recommended to take the bike out, rinse it, dry it, and store it in a dry, sheltered place. This will further extend its lifespan.
A pedal or a part to replace?
In the long run, only wear parts (such as pedals) may eventually require replacement. Choosing comfort pedals from the start, which are better designed for intensive use, reduces this wear even further.
An investment that lasts for years
Well-maintained, an Hydrorider aquabike will accompany you much longer than entry-level equipment. This is the whole difference between a smart purchase and a false economy: manufacturing quality is paid for once, but it pays off over the entire life of the product.
Note: if you prefer not to manage maintenance yourself, our home aquabike rental formula allows you to enjoy the bike without worrying about storage or maintenance at the end of the season.
